Parting with our 10-ton CAT roller - only because we lost that county bid and need to downsize. This 2016 model has been through hell and back but keeps purring along. Had an issue with the vibratory system making a weird clunking noise last summer, but turned out just needed some bushings replaced - smooth as silk now. Previous operator swore by this machine, said he could feel the exact moment of proper compaction through the seat somehow. Cab AC blows cold except when it's above 95 degrees, then it struggles a bit. Drum edges still have good definition, not all worn down like our older machines. Engine burns maybe a quart of oil every 200 hours, but that's been consistent for years. Control panel has a crack where someone (probably night shift) dropped a thermos, but all functions work perfectly. The special machinery techs who serviced it last month were surprised at how tight the articulation joint still is.
