Parting ways with our Grove RT600E 50-tonner from 2007. This 4x4x4 configuration has saved our bacon more times than I can count. Last month we had a job on a half-finished roadway - mud everywhere after three days of rain. Competitors couldn't even get positioned while we were already lifting. The special machinery still performs like it did when newer - none of those electronic gremlins that plague today's models. Sure, the paint's got some battle scars and the right joystick has that slight sticky spot our operator's gotten used to. Speaking of which, he's threatened to quit twice since hearing we're selling his "baby." Maintenance has been religious - hydraulics flushed last year, new cables six months back, and that annoying oil leak by the main pump finally fixed. Cab heater works better than my truck's, though the A/C is typical Grove from that era - works great until it's actually hot outside. Been remarkably reliable considering what we've put it through.
