Up for grabs - my battle-hardened 1992 CAT 988B that's been the backbone of our operation since I picked it up at an auction in 2006. Yeah, she's got some miles on her, but these old CATs were built when they still made 'em properly tough. Had the transmission rebuilt back in 2018 after it started making that weird whining noise on cold mornings, runs sweet as a nut now. The bucket's been rewelded twice but still holds a full load without complaint. Our machinist keeps it running despite what my wife calls my "creative" maintenance schedule. The cab's definitely got character - seat's worn through in spots and the right window doesn't quite seal right in heavy rain, but the heater still blasts hot enough to cook your lunch. Special machinery from this era has a different feel - more mechanical, more honest somehow. Our specialist driver threatened to quit when I mentioned selling it - says he can place a load with millimeter precision after all these years at the controls.
