So we're moving this 2012 740B. Articulated dumps like this earn their keep on rough sites and this one's no exception. Twelve years might sound like a lot but these Cats are built different. The guy driving this special machinery jokes that it'll outlast him. Probably right too. We've thrown everything at this truck - muddy quarries, steep hauls, winter conditions that'd make you think twice. That articulated joint means it bends where rigid trucks break. Loaded or empty, it just finds traction and goes. Center pivot steering takes some getting used to but once you've got it, amazing what you can do. Engine's the proven Cat unit from that era. Yeah it's not the newest tech but it starts every morning and pulls all day. Uses oil like any machine with hours on it but nothing crazy.
