Time came to sell our 1998 160H. Let's be straight about it - this thing's older than some of our crew members but that's exactly why it's still here. Those late 90s 160s were built like tanks. We got it from a highway contractor in 2009 and it's been pushing dirt ever since. Our senior operator won't hear any trash talk about this machine. Says the power on these older 160s is different, more raw maybe. When you need to move serious material, this is what he grabs. Yeah it's 26 years old. Yeah it's not pretty anymore. But mechanically? Thing runs like it should. We've rebuilt most of the hydraulics over the years, engine got major work about 3000 hours back. Transmission's held up surprisingly well. Had our specialist evaluate it last month - compression's still good, no major leaks to speak of. Frame's heavy enough to handle anything.
