There have been difficulties with the delivery of cargo from the UAE to Russia
Due to the difficult situation that has recently been observed in the Red Sea, cargo delivery to Russia has been complicated. The main reason is the hostilities in the region, which in turn forces logistics companies to look for alternative routes. Thus, the port of Jabal Ali in the United Arab Emirates is already overloaded. This is reported by the publication “Kommersant”.
Jabal Ali is the largest port in the region, from here containers are delivered to Russia, among others. Market participants are concerned that traffic here has increased significantly. In addition, business notes an increase in the cost of port services and long queues for cargo delivery to Russia.
Many companies are trying to find other routes, but the other ports turn out to be even more expensive with less throughput capacity. At the same time, the Red Sea passage remains free for Russian cargo ships, which simplifies the transshipment of containers to the port of Jabal-Ali.
The deep-water port of Jabal Ali, located in Dubai, is one of the ten largest sea terminals in the world. Up to 20 million containers pass through it annually. Earlier it was also reported that due to the attacks of the Hussites in the Red Sea, the demand for transit to the EU countries through the territory of the Russian Federation has increased several times. In addition, requests for the transportation of goods along the railway corridor became more frequent, which led to the fact that the services of Russian Railways increased in price by almost 50 percent.
